Does anyone know anything about this radio? Is it a good "starter" radio? I have a chance to buy a used one for $125.00 does that sound fair? NOTE! CB, AES has the NEW FT2800 for $159.00 Much Improved over the 2400 and more features and Power. Also NEW With Warranty. www.aesham.com Hope This Helps Lon Tech808

Lon I was looking at the 2800 also, looks like a really nice radio, a friend of mine has a 2400 that is nice, and the alpha numeric option is nice too! |

CB, Might I suggest the Anttron ABD-270-M listed below that Copper Carries. It has: VHF Gain 3DB / UHF Gain 6DB Covers VHF 144-148 Covers UHF 440-450 Overall Length ~ 60 inch 3/8 bu 24 Standard Thread SWR q.5:1 Over the Amatuer Bands Power 200 Watts http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/checkitout/checkitout.cgi?catalogSTORE:CKIE:prodA90-00002+ NOTE! I have owend both the 2400 and now the 2800 and the 2800 is one Very Nice Reasonable priced 2 Meter Radio with Plenty of Features. I like the Feet that come with it for Base Use. Also the Whole Case is one giant Heat Sink and Larger easy to see Display. Has 5W / 10W / 25W / 65W Power I am located 125 miles from Chicago and can generally open Repeaters up there and 155 miles From St Louis and on good night can also open them down there. Hope this helps. Lon Tech808 |

Thanks Lon, I think I found my 2 meter mobile set up. Any thoughts on the Icom 2100h 25n? Also looks like a nice radio... and $10 cheaper. |

Cb, Sorry, but I cannot comment on the Icom as I have never used one or owned an Icom. But for only $10.00 DIfference I would pick the FT2800 with 15 More Watts of power on High. IC-2100H = 50 watt radio Yaesu FT2800 = 65 Watt Radio You may need that extra 15 Watts sometime. Just my 2 cents worth. Lon Tech808
