I HAVE SOME FRIENDS THAT RUN THE 296 AND THEY RUN ON SIDEBAND ON THE OLDTIMERS CHANNEL AND THEY DO A GREAT JOB.THEY HAVE BEEN MODED TO RUN ON 27.565 AND ARE EASY TO LISTEN TO AND ARE A VERY CLEAN SOUNDING RADIO |

IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY ONE SEE IF THE TECHS CAN FIND THE MODS FOR IT.I LOOKED TODAY AND COULD NOT FIND THEM. |

i could not find any mods on the net either but i am going to order one from copper its an early x-mas gift to myself!!! |

I have a 296 and I know it has the 148 board in it but I need to find the limiter to install the J& J modulator kit in it. I did it on a TR-966 and got big swing. I cant find anything on this radio. Mod limiter or swing kit placement. Let me know of any mods for better swing.Thanks |
