Anyone used the digital external frequency meters like the ones made by Aries and Galaxy that just connect straight into the antenna feedline. Do they give an accurate readout and work on ssb |

I have a Dosy meter. Then I bought the frequency counter to go with it called "Bigfoot". As far as I can tell it works good on AM, but only during transmitt. The counter does not work on SSB. It just jumps back and forth, but never settles on any one mhz. This maybe out of the question range, but it does connect inline w/ antenna. |

Oldpirate The kind of frequency counters you are refering to only will read a frequency only when a RF signal is put through them. On A-M, it will read the (constant) transmitted frequency. However, when you are using SSB, it will not read the frequency because there is no (constant) RF carrier present. If you want to see a constant frequency readout on both transmit and receive, there are counters that will do just that but they have to be "hardwired" directly into your radio. Jeff, kc0gxz. |
