I have two Realistic TRC226 hand held radios. I intend on replacing the metal extendable antennas with rubber duckie antennas. They bnc connector is screw on, but I would imagine that I can get a piece from rat shack that will allow them to be the regular bnc connectors that go on with just a half twist. Any suggestions on a antenna. The full extended metal antennas are somewhat of a hassle and eventually they get broken.

Your connector is a TNC. You can order 27 MHz. rubber duck antennas with a TNC already on them from Tuff Duck.

Be prepared! A rubber duck antenna will not work nearly as well as the extendable type on low frequencies like 27 MHz. You will probably lose around 80% range or more.
