I am interested in getting a CB base station for use in our Missionary Offices in Mexico. I am looking at the Galaxy DX 2547 or the TEXAS RANGER 696F. The major use will be to keep local contact, there are no phones in the town. I would like to expand the channels to include (ay least) 27415, 27425, 27435, 27445 LSB. How dificult is that and where could I vuy one new, wirh MODS made? After all, this is truly an "EXPORT" application. john-harbaugh@earthlink.net |

John, I will let the experts answer the ? you have on those radios. In meantime, correct me if I am wrong, but where you are located, there should be a Rudy's Country Store BBQ right there on I - 35. If I am right, how about sending me some of that great Sliced Beef Brisket that they make, along with a LLoonngg Neck Bottle of A & W Root Beer! I like the Texas Ranger better than the Galaxy, based on comments from owners of both. Keith in ATLANTA cef 150 |

Keith: I am between Austin and San Antonio, just about 2 milrd (crow flight) from the Rip Griffin Truck Stop, at I-35 Exit 193. There is a Rudy's about a mile from me on HW-337, and I like the chopped beef, with slaw. |

They are pretty much the same radio under the hood, so the differences are mostly cosmetic. Get whichever one you like the looks and styling of, I like the Galaxy better for that reason. Both have a pretty easy mod for some xtras, it involves a pair of switches to jump the PLL. |

Crackerjack Isn't there anyone in your area that sells or works on radios? If not, contact Rick, Tech8541. He does repairs for Coppers or anyone else. tech8541@copperelectronics.com Jeff Tech548 |

Thanks, I will look a little more. I live in a small Texas town, and there are no such places here. Just "Radio Shack". with one eye, and can only walk about 100 feet at a time -so I do as much as I can by UPS. Radios are what take up my time, it is worse than being retired. LOL. Keeping in touch with Mexico goves me something to do. I will contact him. And thanks. |
