Is the 150W put of the 2970 ir the 95T adeqyate, or do I really NEED more. Will 300W get me where 150W wont? Opinions? |

Doubling your power shows up as about 1/2 an S-unit. Not worth it in my opinion. The most important factor is your antenna. If you've got a good antenna and good operating technique you should be able to make contacts. If you can hear them, they should be able to hear you too. |

Something happened to the second part of my post--I meant to say I have a few amps capable of 250 watts or more, but I run them at just over 100 watts--they stay cool and happy that way, and never have to go see the Doctor. |

Great -I have a dynamite antenna/SWR setup and I am thinking sbout a neam too. I am thinking that 150W is what I could use. Thanks. |

Roughly about another 21 miles if conditions are right (ground-wave), sky wave maybe a little more if you antenna is high enough. There are many variables to consider so take that value with a grain of salt. www.kb8ygc.com/Power.pdf |

If your talking about a base set up then a 2970 should be just fine. If you want to talk farther get your antenna up in the air more or look into a beam antenna. Going from say 40 to 70+ feet up will make great improvement. If your talking about a mobile a good 2 pill amp with 2879's will do a very nice job of local and DX talking. |
