Capt_hook,the sure 444 is a good mic for a tube type(high imp) or solid state radio(lo imp).especially when used with a speech processor.it is the stock desk mic of a lot of older rigs like Yeaseu, swan and siltronix.

I tried to use one on a President Madison once and it didnt work worth a darn...
Is it the old blue mike that they made back in the 1970s?
They also made/make a 526T that ive heard is a great mike!!!

I have an amplified Shure 444T that works great on any radio I wire it for, at present it is wired for my ICOM-735 and have been getting good reports on this microphone.

Cm3885,there were(are)several different versions of the Shure444 mic.both ceramic and magnetic.had one of the ceramic versions once and after replacing the mic element with a new mag cartridge I dissected the ceramic cartridge and found the ceramic chip inside was broken(it ratteled when shaken).
