The amp draws 11 amps at peak according to the book, the raido draws 5/6 at peak (not 2 W).

I ran a 2950 and a KL-400 on a 25A Workman.

Nickel

Your radio alone will draw about 4-6 amps at 23 watts. Maybe a little more depending on tuning.

Nickel:

The 203 is designed for 18-20 Mm and modified http://www.rmitaly.com/download/instructions/KL203-Instruction_rel_usa.pdf

The 200 and 200P are designed for 25-30 megs from the floor up. A much better choice.

nickel, your profile says you use a cheap mag mount anttenna. maybe you ought to upgrade your antenna before you try an amp. just a suggestion...aj

I second the motion. Preferably an antenna that will be truely grounded to your vehicle.

Antenna is the important part.

But for the Amp...I have a KL200P. Great little amp for the money.

I deadkey 1/2 watt and swing to 12 watts. This gives me a 8 watt deadkey out of a KL200P with a 100 watt swing. Pre-amp works but isn't great.

You won't see much more than a 100 watt swing from a KL200P...if you do the amp isn't going to last long.

I've owned a lot of KL amps, they really seem to like a low deadkey, 1 watt will do, with a lot of swing. Run 4 watts for a long keydown and they don't last long. Burned one out by running deadkey too high.

I also mounted a fan on mine...wired it to the on/off switch so when the amp is running the fan is on. Keeps it cool when talking for a while.

I get great reports when using the KL200P.

It's not a magnaforce or anything, but can work for you if you don't have lots of $$$ to spend.

Easy to mod for 11 meter...just pull out the chip.

Thanks Brewdirect thats what I'm looking for. I just want something small that will work on my power sup. I'm going to get two of them, One for the mobil and one for the home. @ home 2950 2.5 (DK) with 18 swing. @ mobil ss-3000b superstar (DK) .5 swings 18 should work great. I think i like the fan idea too. just a small one for my small radio LOL LOL!!!
