The 95T is supposed to be nice and the 2970 is nice if you like the computer like interface. You should realy check out the reviews on the Magnum S9 that one is my favorite, personaly BC |

If echo and a big meter are what you like then go with the 95T. As far as a quality piece of electronics, the 2970 is much better built and is the better radio. |

I just found this post but wanted to say that I'm a big fan of the 2970DX. I really like the VFO type tunning with sensitivity down to 100Hz that the 2970DX has. Plus it has all the power I need and have been told the audio is outstanding. Being that I spend 99.9% of my time on SSB I wouldn't want the Echo or the Talk Back features the Galaxy has. But I do like the built in fan. On long high power QSO's the 2970DX tends to get hot when driven with a power mic., so I put a small personal fan behind the heat sink, and that seems to do the trick. But I never liked the heat sink getting as warm as it does on high power. I can't compare the two side by side. But I had heard enough stories about the Galaxy radios that had me leaning strongly towards the Rangers well before I made the purchase. Just my opinion and I know there are many loyal Galaxy fans out there.

I currently run the Galaxy DX95T & it's fantastic except for one small niggle - the receive audio tends to be a bit on the hashy-white-noise side. The transmit audio is superb - I use a Turner Expander mic & the results are 'thunderous' audio (unsolicited reports) particulary on SSB. I'll be trying the Magnum S9 shortly after reading some very good reviews -anyone got an opinion? |

i personally like the rci 2970.i talk mostly on ssb and i found nothing better on ssb than rci. but if ya talk mostly am and like echo i would look at the galaxy 95t without a dught.so it really comes down to what mode you use more
