I am interested in a President lincoln and can anyone with 1st hand knowledge tell me if they have variable power. If the key is turned down to 1/2 watt what will they swing to pep.

They have variable power on AM and FM, but not SSB. Mine doesn't turn down to 1/2 watt, more like 1 watt. At a 2 watt carrier mine modulates to around 8 watts.

Ok, the am has varible power but it does not control the sideband power. I would say 4 or 5 watts maybe from a deadkey of 1/2 watt. It will drive a box really good at low deadkeys in the 1 watt range. When the modulation is turned loose a little it is really loud. I finally got mine tuned to be loud and proud on am and ssb. For me, the trick was not to turn the watt up high on either side and manipulate the modulation pot.
