Harley110,

Well I have never used or had any personal experience with the 2985DX or the 2517.

But we do Own and Enjoy the Features and Performance of our Texas Ranger 696F SSB Base Radio and the Ranger 2995DX 10 & 12 Meter Base Radio's.

You are talking about 3 Completely different radios here.

The Texas Ranger 696F SSB Base radio is a CB Radio.

The Galaxy DX 2517 is a 10 METER Base Radio.

The Ranger 2985DX is a 10 & 12 METER Base Radio.

As all three radios are completely different with many different features it would be impossible to compare them.

If you are Not a licensed Ham or going to use the Ham Frequencies then the DX 2517 and 2985DX is a lot of extra money to just use as a CB.

If you Plan to use them for the Ham Bands then the Ranger 2985DX will cover Both the 10 and 12 Meter bands and has many features the others do not have.

Check out the Links below to read the features that each radio has to offer and then you can determine which radio will best fit your needs.

the TR696F-SSB is a great radio i got mine in feb and i love it.great audio, great transmit, killer with an Astatic MobileMax.i also just got a d104 on ebay i'll let you know how it sounds with it on there.just make shure you've got a good antenna mine is an I-MAX99 but you can't get that one it's been discontued so an A99 $37.50 or I-MAX2000 $74.99 would be a good choice.

Harley110, give us a full report when you get the radio and use it a day or two. Wow, I could have had a v-8!
