quoting from 'miracle on 34th st'(which apparently may have something to do with antennas):
"the state of new york concedes to the existance of santa claus"
yet that argument too continued...

Patzerozero,

Welllll, as Loud & Clear and Booming in here as you were yesterday during the CEF Nets in your Mobile, you must have been driving back and forth on 34th Street.

350 Miles, 700 U-Turns on 34th street must have set the record.

Signal from your Mobile S-9+ from base S-3 or 4.

I vote for the V 5/8 I have always had less noise, and better performance with an aluminum antenna.

Dont freak guys, just my own experience, on my own equipment!

Imax 2000 is stronger than A-99./
How high you going to mount it??? How much
room to you have./ I'm with Pig040, Maco 5/8!!!
It might pay you to read Tech 833 article on
choosing groundplanes in the Subscribers preview
area of the forum./

thankyou lon, sounded pretty good yourself, 5+ or better most of the time, as were most of the guys i could pull out of the qrm. and, nope, i was parked on the beach, about 60 miles east of 34th st, grant XL with the limiter switched to the "clipped" position(i know, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, besides, nobody around to bleed on, and it can be switched back inline), stock mic, OLD boomer w/2-454's, and astatic 3kl on triple mag mount-can't wait til i put santa's 5pill davemade in there. holding the throttle @ 1500+ rpm's used about the same amount of gas though, as if i was driving 350 miles! base was only 50 watts on icom 735 with stock mic and, my personal favorite-the MACO V5/8.
did i ever say i like the maco V5/8 best!!!
