Hey guys! I was out yesterday doing my vintage radio shopping when I found a roll of coax. I will soon elevate my Imax a little higher and change coax. Thought about lmr 400 everyone raves about but I will now use RG8X. I bought 500 feet of RG8X for 200 greenbacks. The thing I noticed is for starters I never seen thicker insulation and the center conducter looks like 16 gauge stranded. I never felt heavier RG8X. It also says USA on it. Thats a first for me! So for 500 feet of American made RG8X for 200 bucks I think I made a good deal. Nice soft flexible coax. Does anyone think this will work as good as lmr400? At least I will have plenty of backup coax! Well I better go now and start soldering on these terminators. peace

Yes it will work GREAT for your needs.
Sorry but that is NOT a good buy on coax.
You paid .40 cents a foot for what Copper has for .25 a foot.
500' of NEW 8U from Copper is only $125.00 or .25 a foot and also made in the USA by SIW (Superior Insulated Wire) co.

I bourht 500 foot of rg8x mini gray from copper for $60 about two months ago.

Oh what a bummer! Oh well its to late, Already put on terminators and using it. Thats one item I never really researched much. Sinse I have taken my hobby to the next level I will be very very cautious on prices. This hobby can sure get exspensive!!! Thank you gentlemen. |
