Whats the diff between this and the M6-C?
Snagged what was supposed to be 2 M6-B's off an online auction and I got one chrome and one in black but M6-C models? Perform great and I did get what I wanted for a GREAT price but just wondering on the model #?

Thanks

104-M6C&B are one in the same, just that one is chrome and the other black.

The older d104 mics have the canister-style 7 volt batteries. When Astatic re-engineered the new mics for a 9 volt battery they had to reduce the size of the microphone element so they could cram in the larger battery. The newer mics are still pretty good but the older ones had a fuller-bodied sound, in my opinion. And the 7 volt batteries last a long time. The only reason I can see why they changed is because the 7 volts aren't as readily available as 9 volts and probably drew potential buyers away. As Yankee mentioned the only difference between the 2 mics you mentioned is the "C" is the chrome mic and the "B" is black, this along with a new price tag difference of a few dollars.

The 7 volt canister type batteries are still available at many battery stores that carry just batteries or can order for you. Stickshift is correct the older model with the 7 volt has a much better sound and the craftsmanship and microphone cords were much better on the older model.

Thanks for the input.
BTW..I understand that 7v battery is a common digi camera batt.

7 volt batteries have been around a long time. Most battery stores and drug stores carry them. They are a little pricier than a common 9 volt and 9 volts of course can be found in almost any local stores. Like Yankee said, the 7 volts are still in a lot of battery stores but aren't as common as the 9 volts. The 7 volts last a long time. I have 2 Cobra mics that were produced in the 70's and 1 of them has a battery that I put in it at least 10 years ago and is still working fine. The D104 battery is close to that age and is still ticking as well. As for the 7 volts being used in digital cameras, I'm not sure. It's highly possible. Most digital cameras I've seen use a AA or AAA type battery. The 7 volt was around long before the devlopment of the digital camera.
