There are two versions, the KLV1000 and the KLV1000P. The KLV1000 uses low power 3-5 watts AM and the P needs 50-100 watts. Go to www.RM-Italy.com the manufacturer's website, for details. |

I think that the 2000 is an 80-10 meter band switching amplifier. |

yes it is!! I talked to a guy in Texas that sold one of those KLV 1000P amps and he said they are awesome!!! he got his to key 975 watts ans swing to well over 1500 on AM!!! And all he was driving it with was a 23 channel Johnson 250!!!!!!!!!! |

Taz, what tubes does it run, and how many, maybe that guy in texas bought his meter with the amp. haha, I wish they would convert that 'swing' to RMS, then you would know something. So many of the cheap built amps will raise the SWR on our 'cheap' meters, even more so on modulation or a whistle, and that causes those hellish swings. |

I dunno were he got 1800!!! Oh well.. LOL!! I used to know a guy that claimed he could get a galaxy radio like a 88 or a 99 to swing 75 or 80 watts. Well he used a PDC meter with a coax jumper stuck in the wall with the end exsposed but covered with electrical tape.. So in a sense an open end coax will show higher swing and he could get some people to belive it and pay him $50.00 for a so called peak and tune!!!!!!!! he did this until someone snoopy enough snooped around and uncovered his little trick!! Then he was done for.. |

hahaha, the danr transistor in the galaxy radios arent capable of it. bottom line! |

Taz & RCI2990: I am glad to see someone telling the truth about the "99" and "88" Galaxy's. They have been overated for so long. I have heard the tales about them doing 50 watts and swinging over 70 watts. It will not happen!! True story----- IH-30, exit 63, Gurdon Ak. A tech. by the name of RB has a shop outside of a truck stop, it is on the north side of IH-30. I can not think of the name of the truck stop. If their are any drivers on this forum they know where I am talking about. This man uses a Dosey meter (not sure of the model #) His meter will show a 35 to 50 watt dead key and a swing to over 70 in the case of a "99". Don't get me wrong, he is a pretty good tech. I bought a "99" from him about 3 years ago and I am still running it as a mobile. I saw him turn the pots and it had a dead key of 50 watts and had a swing to 70 watts on AM. I had an idea that this was a little high. I got home that weekend and put it on my Dosey that I had and two other Dosey meters that a couple of my friends had. Well guess what,,, all three meters had a dead key of 24 watts and a swing of 35 watts. Somehow he calibrated that meter to show the high watts. Sorry Galaxy "99" owners it just is not true. A Galaxy "99" just will not do it. My Galaxy "99" is about the best mobile I have had. I really like it a lot, but a 50 watt dead key will just not happen under honest conditions. Taz might just be a kid to some of us, but he has nailed this one right on the head. Good work Taz & RCI2990. Ya'll hang in there!! Bill (Mavrick) |

Now i wasnt trying to stir up crap guy i was simply tellin it like it was from what i saw.. LOL!! That guy worked on one of my 88s i had way back before i knew any better and he claimed mine did 20 watts deadkey and 75 watts swing!! I took it home and guess what!!?? it didnt do NOTHING more than what it did when i took it ot the guy!! I called him and he gave me the bullsh** about my meter. You cant win on CB.. There are more jerks out there that will rip a guy off than anything and this industry is so laden with cheaters, liers, crooks and theves(IMHO it all has to do with the caliber of the quality of the people that are into the industry. No im not say they are all bad!) than any other industry ive seen! Well besides ENRON of course but we wont go there will we? |

OH BTW my 88 did 10 watts on high and about 35 to 40 swing... On both AM and SSB.. That was on my Dosy. |

I will say this until i am dead, and its that the final in any radio tells you how much the radio will put out and its the bottom line!!!!! NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU WORK ON IT OR ANYTHING THE DARN TRANSISTOR WILL ONLY DO SO MUCH!!!!! BUT IF YOU REPLACE THE TRANSISTOR WITH A BIGGER ONE THEN IT WILL PUT OUT MORE. A FORD PINTO WILL ONLY GO SO FAST UNTIL YOU PUT A BIGGER MOTOR IN IT! |

Geezzz!!! So sorry!!!! Dam what flew up you rear!!! I was stating what i saw and was told once, OK? Damn man take a chill pill!! Im 10-07 and gone! next time i wont post anything about what ANY of my radios do on ANY kind of meter so as not to get you riled up Taz.... |

Taz & RCI2990: Chill out guys! It is sort of my fault. I have to admit I was wrong. A "99" dose have the ability to have the big swing and dead key of high watts, in the hands of a very good tech. (181 or 307) they can adjust the DC current and voltage into this radio and will maby get the high readings. Sorry about the lack of knowing what I was talking about. Sorry guys, I just let my mouth run a bit much. Take care Bill (Mavrick) |

hey no harm no foul there Taz I was just ratting yer' cage a tad! LOL! But in a sense you are correct about a radio only doing what the final are rated for. I just get sick of these goofball so called techs that brag about getting a radio to swing to whatever on their meters(sooped up, turned up meters, or the imfamous open coax in the wall gag! Ive been around enough and ive seen it all!!) and charging the poor guy $50.00 to do the so called peak and tune and then the guy takes the radio home and guess what!!! it does the same dang thing it did before the guy had it "tuned!" No wonder a lot of CB shops get a bad rep it becasue of this bullsh** that goes on! |

taz" while it is true that a transistor can put out what it is rated at.......there are also pills that are "hot" and when you put 8 matched hot pills together......you get much more than stock pills output........... just food for thought. Old #7 used matched pairs of "hot pills" for increased output when modifying amps papa |

Taz I own a KLV-1000P and it put out 1100 watts on AM and SSB with about 100 watts drive guess it all depends on the setup. |

i own the klv 1000 and its been a great amp. i deadkey 3 watts in it and it runs clean and clear wouldnt trade it for anything. i get about 750 to 800 watts but not 1800 watts. |
