I have seen these types before on vehicles.
Do they really work and what power are they rated for?

They don't work well... I have had 2 different brands and both.. Well.. did not work so well. You'd be better off yelling out the window :-)

It took a lot of gall for me to drill into a new sporty car, but I found a hatch mount bracket that is fairly tasetful. What kind of vehicle?

I decided to do the install on the new car after seeing a fleet of newer vettes flying down the road all with CB antenna's on them, and they weren't mag mounts :-)

Whoa - where were the antennas mounted on the Corvettes? With a fiberglass body getting a decent ground is pretty hard.

I have a 4 foot firestick. I am mounting it on wifes SUV. I just have to figure out a tasteful place to mount and think I will go with a type that mounts in gap between hood and fender.
Wife does not know it yet, but will wait to put in magnum 257 when they are available!

They has a thick'ol steel plate about 3" wide coming out from the rear at the bottom. 2 were centered between the pipes and one was off to the drivers side. I tried to snap a pic but was too late :-)

I doubt they performed that great but they were traveling in a pack and close. I just admired the ca-honeys to put a CB antenna on a vette :-)

Rock on! The only time I ever saw a CB antenna on a Corvette was in a book, and it was a Hustler "no-ground" whip like those used on boats mounted on the trunk lip.

It was a fiberglass antenna, it MAY have been a "no ground" type
