I just bought one of these. I'm having some difficulty with it.

I assumed that I could use it as a primitive bench frequecy counter by connecting a length of wire into the RCA jack on the back. NO LUCK!

When I turn the counter on, it just scans through frequencies and won't stop on one when I hold the end of the wire near the back of the radio when transmitting.

Am I missing something here........................? :-(

I plugged it into the back of my Texas Ranger TR696FD1 and it won't even turn on. Something tells me when I had the extra freqs installed that perhaps this plug was bypassed. My freq counter works properly on the front of the radio though. (I didn't buy this counter for this particular radio anyway}

Does anyone else have this particular frequency counter with the cool blue digits!! If so, how do you make yours work?
