I just got my S-6 and i am very pleased. I have not spent to much time with it yet but it seems like it will be easy to operate. The only questions i have are. Does the nb not really work well? I have mine set up as a base and it is not that much noise. On my Saturn if i flip the nb off you can hear the person i am talking to get a shade louder and not with the S-6 it stays the same. The other is the 6th digit on the frec counter is not lit. Is this due to the way it was set up? Any info would help. This radio as far as i can tell out talks the Cobra 200 i had. The few people that i have talked to on the S-6 tell me LOUD LOUD LOUD and alot of SWING. Awesome TX for a barefoot radio HOSS WITH THE 2 WATT WAVE AND I'LL SEEYA |

Hoss the fact that you don't notice a differance in the persons your talking to is because the NB is actually working well! NB shouldn't ever cut away audio or signal on stations your recieving, just the hash that alternators, fuel pumps, power lines, etc create. As for the 6th digit... If you open the "speaker side" of the radio, with the knobs facing you and the component side up you will see the "channel board" Which is a aluminum(I think it's aluminum anyway) box. The top comes off (pry carefully) and under the top is 4 jumpers with what looks like staples jumping (in your case probably) J1. there should be two "staples" one in J1 and the other in J4. Take out the J4 "staple" and (what I do) put it in the J1 spot along with the other one for safe keeping. In the end you need to jump J1 ONLY This will give you all the frequencies you have now plus 6 digit freq counter! Just for your info J1 on is esport off is 10 meter only (temporaraly crossed for programming explained later) J2 Programming mode when jumped (when jumped you then use JP1 to select bands to prgram them into the desired spot on the band switch) J3 off for normal channel spacing/ On for 10KHZ/5KHZ selectable with the 10kc switch (disables channel readout) and the radio works as a VFO type tuner with 26.000 - 32.990 freq coverage!!! JP4 Off 6 digit/ On 5 digit BC |

A buddy of mine told me that the plug on the front of a S-6 was for a power mic and the side plug was for the stock mic. Any truth to this????? Or is he just crazy? Thanks, HOSS |

Hoss, Sorry, but your friend has incorrect information on the Dual Microphone Jacks/Connectors. They can be used for any combination of hand mics the owner wishes to use be they 100% Stock, Noise Cancelling mics or Power mics. CLICK on the LINK below and read it and then Give him the LINK below so he can read it. MAGNUM S-6 Review Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

...in addition to Lons statement above regarding "any combination of hand mics.." I'd like to add "as long as they are wired 4 pin Cobra/Uniden/Galaxy/"...which MOST are nowadays anyhow. When I had my S-9 in the base I liked having a stock mic for locals on one side and a D-104 for skipland on the other. I LOVED that option Hank |
