I know this has been. asked before but I hope to get some more input before making this big decision I want a radio with a built in amp and it comes down to these two. Part of me likes the RCI because I think it has more coverage, ie the 12 meter band and I like the scanning, memory etc. but the Galaxy is easy to mod for 11 meter, I have not seen anything about the RCI. Besides that the features seem almost the same, anyone care to comment? This is going to be a big purchase and I want to make sure I get the right one for me.....

if you're a ham & use 12 meters, then the 2970 is gonna be about it. or even the rci6900ftb/150 maybe. if 12 meters is NOT a requirement, you could wait a few more months for the S9-175

The 95T is an easier to operate radio than the 2970. The RX is also better on the 95T than the 6900 and the 2970. The only advantage the 2970 has is the coverage of 12 meters. If you are going to talk strictly ham then yes go with the 2970 but if you will be converting it and using it for 11 meters then you will be much happier with the 95T

the 95t uses the ept-6900-10* board, & the 2970dx & 6900f/150 both use an upgraded version of the same board. while their receiver sections are virtually identical, & theoretically should be the same, the different synthesizer circuitry in the 2970 & 6900 allow an edge in both XMIT & RCV. maybe because both were (attempted to be) marketed as amateur radios, while the galaxy was strictly an export-type CB.

Hummm well that gives me some extra things to think about.

I am going to use it as 11 meter however I am thinking about diving into the ham stuff as well, and also the scan functions on the 2970 seem nice (ie I guess even on 11 meter I could have it scanning for traffic on all 40 channels, that would be nice). I still like the Galaxy also, but it looks like perhaps the RCI is for me; thanks again for everyone's advice I really appreciate it!!!!
