Has anyone got their new compression mike yet?? If you did what do you think of it, and what kind of audio reports are you getting. I am still waiting on mine to be delivered.... I can hardly wait to get it. I feel like a kid on christmas eve.

Cornbrown I got mine today. Its everything I hoped it would be. Getting jaw dropping audio reports. Cornbrown man just wait till you tear open that brown box. You gonna LOVE your mic! NOBODY touches my NEW MIC, thats what I think of it. 73 and have fun! |

I was just wondering, will this new mic work on an RCI-2980WX and a amatur amplifier, if I can find one that's relatively cheap, I think I might go with a ham amp because they appear to be a cleaner amp with more filtering than a CB amp. But as for making a circuit for the keying of the amp, I'm lost. Guess I'm asking if this new mic has that circuit built in? |

Yes the JCD-201M Base Microphone will work with the RCI-2980DX.
Your radio is what keys an amplifier not the microphone.
Your microphone sends a signal to your radio to transmit a signal.
Your radio then sends a signal to your antenna or to the amplifier and then your amplifier transmits the signal to the antenna.

Pistonpopper,
I have researched the BIG Ameritron HF amps that if modded can be used for 10 meter. For the supplys and info on modding it correctly they need to check your amatuer license. Found zero info on 11 meter modding and in fact anyone using an amp like these on 11 meter is very rare. A bit of overkill I think. All the money you would have to spend and if you just happened to get it all right the first time for 11 meters is not worth it to me personally. They would be really nice though. I feel you would be better off just getting a KLV 1000 in the pocket and mind. A Texas Star is also a good amp. I have even heard kilowatt DaveMade amps with very little or no splatter on the next channel at all. Its in how the radio is performing. If your radio is all jacked up way over modulating and spewing harmonics everywhere it will not matter what amp you use. So with your RCI and the new mic and perhaps a KLV 1000 I bet there would be a new sherrif in town! Just my 10 cents here is all ya know. If the $$$ham$$$ amp is what you really want then go for it, different strokes for different folks! 73 |

Thanks Lon, just wondering about getting a ham amplifier for this radio, but am not electricly inclined to making the keying circuit for the ham amp. Guess I may just go with what I've got for now.
