Yup, it's true. I got my order in at last. I have some good info on it, and I am looking forward to hooking it up and seeing what she will do. Not sure if I will add the extra channels to it or not. We'll see what happens. I am running a Uniden Washington at moment, and the locals have said nothing but good things about the audio. So it will be interesting to se how they compare with the locals! |

I've been looking at the 2547 for a while now. I love the looks of it. Not that I NEED another radio lol. Let us know how you like it. I'm curious. |

I got my 2547 early this year, no mods other than a peak and tune. And I truly love it. Currently running a Imax 2000, but with height restrictions it's only 13 foot to feedpoint. Plan on going with a top one astroplane soon. |

Well it arrived today. So far nothing but great audio reports. Dead on freq as well. Though the freq counter in the radio needed to be tweaked. But other then that, she is some SWEET! I tuned it up myself, and it's working real well. As for extra channels, I have two mods for them. And they are both 180 degrees apart. So if anyone has the channel mods, let know. The more info I have when the time comes, the better. BTW - I had great audio with the stock mic! |

Sodapop, Did you check the Modification List to the left of the forum here under Tools. I have the Frequency Modification listed there. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 |

Yes Lon I have. I have a 6 position switch conversion as well. But the one list here seems to be easier. I will check it out tomorrow and see what I think will work best. |

Well I did the channel mod on the Galaxy today. I went with the conversion here on Coppers. Way simple. Now I need a local to surf the channels with me, to make sure they are working right. I hope to do the 10KC switch mod this week as well. And then, if I can take the excitement, maybe I'll try the clarifier mod as well. Still can't get the freq counter to read on freg at 12 o"clock, but so far everything else is going great! |

I would urge you to hold off on the 10 kc mod ! I have read many posts on different forums that state that mod can cause terminal problems on that radio, in particular, damage to the main chip. I may be wrong about this, but I don't want to see you ruin your new radio. Maybe others can offer some advice. |

Hmmm, well I had not heard anything like that. That would not be a good thing, not at all! |

You might want to do a search of "galaxy dx2547 10kc mod" on a search engine a read about some experiences others have had. I run a 2547 with the standard 2 switch channel mod and clarifier mod, and it is great. I haven't missed the few freqs it doesn't cover, and would certainly not risk damaging it for the few missing freqs. Best of luck in whatever you do. |

Hey Sodapop! I have some locals around me most in Indy who use the 2547. Honestly I believe from what I have heard they are one of the best sounding CB base sets around! Up there with the famous Cobra 2000! Its hard to find a 2000 or another similar cb base that sounds so good cause hey they don't make them anymore. The Galaxy is the next best thing and if cb base is what I was after brand new, I would have one on my desk right now! 73 |

Soda! You should get the Galaxy base mic to match up with it! |

Hotwire: send me one and I'll hook it up! As for the audio, I run a handheld power mic, and the locals say it is one of the best sounding radio around. So I think it's a great base radio. I did the clarifier mod today. Not to bad, gives you a little room to move. But not to much. So nothing left to do but talk on it. I think more people should give this radio a shoot. I'm sure glad I did! |
