Barefoot most of the time and I gain wattage when needed. Power is not neccasary to work dx but when its here I crank up the 2879 X 4 amp! I used to turn up the wattage during a power war but over the years this nonsense has gotten boring. I have no need to validate myself anymore. I have noticed the average in my town is 2 pill Palomars and a few 4 pill Pals with a DaveMade here and there. Many power wars take place and the rookies and even veterans for some reason like the variable dead key. WHY? Just set it and forget it! By overdriving these little amps the collision of over modulated audio is intertaining at times. |

'I have no need to validate myself anymore'. you've NEVER heard my base with more then 150 watts, 'wire. and usually less then 100. for the reason YOU stated. HECK, every time you EVER heard my mobile, the XL was ONLY keying 2 watts |

Asking how much power someone run's here is like asking how many people on the forum that own's and operate's a 23 channel radio. I think it could be about the same effect but you will not loose any of your hair talking on a 23 channel radio unlike an amp. I run 3 1/2 watt's AM and 11 3/4 watt's on SSB thats it.*LOL* yuk yuk yuk.... |

Wrk3, ALL of our radios are set to operate with a 2-1/2 watt Dead Key swinging 8 watts PEP. With the exception of the YAESU FT-2800M (2 Meter Radio) and the RCI 5054DX (6 Meter Radio) which are both set to the Factory Specifications. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9CEF CVC#2 & Shirley CEF164 CVC#2 |

I have a 2 watt dk and swings 18 on AM and about 18 watts on ssb. I do not have the need to be big dog anymore. I get more fun out of making contacts without the use of help. I do not need to feed my ego now. I now make my contacts with whatever comes out of my radio and for some reason feel more pride in doing it this way. To each his own!!! HARVE UNIT199 |
