paid $40 each for 6 of 'em, new, about 3 years ago. 1 never worked(still have it somewhere), 1 swung about 75 watts, 1 swung over 175-same radio & same power supply-both worked fine & are still in use today, 1 burned the foil right off the board with delta force hitting it at 8/30, FRIED everything inside. 2 others were sold & never heard from again. claimed output was 300 watts with 25 input. uh-huh....

not saying that they are no good at all, just need to get the bugs worked out of 'em, or at least get SOMEBODY to publish what is in them, what REAL drive they will take & what REAL output to expect. so far, the most common mosfets produce about 30 watts each, so, assuming......

Mosfets are really good. They are in most of all the top notch hf rigs like Icom, Yeasu, and Kenwood! Someday we may find it hard to come across some Toshiba's 2879's and similar transistors.

is that 30 pep or 30 rms. of course we can drop the 2x out of the equation as they are just drivers which leaves 12x(30)? 360 watts minus all losses of course....now would that be rms???

I run a hornet with a galaxy.
Variable on hornet all the way to the right
or SWR gets BAD between the radio and amp.
2.5+- watt dead key = 25Watt Carrier
Swings to 80-90+- with a whistle PEP
They state they can have up to 35 swing into it
but I set it with mic gain and scope so I dont
get overmod so it stays loud. I can drop my deadkey
below a watt and still swings full PEP with low carrier.

This is a 350 watt mobile, Palomar 300 amplfier. This amplifier provides the very best modulation. With a deadkey of 5 watts and a swing of 350 watts. Very low amp draw. Can run off a ciggarete lighter plug!
- 14 Mosfett Transistors: 2 x 12.
- Maximum amp draw of only 25 amps
- AM/FM/CW/SSB
- Pre-amp to amplify receive
- On/Off Switch
- LED On/Off indicator light

ummm my origional post stated that this was from another site and that it was a 2x12 mosfet amp??? dont know what happened to the header. i wasnt infering that the hornet and this amp were the same. if you scroll up this kinda turned into a mosfet amp discusion. hence my posting of the 2 driving 12 mosfet amp post.
