Let us hear from you. Was the Cobra 200 worth it? What kind of reports are you getting? Is it the real deal or the real dud? Mikefromms |

Thanks for the comments. Love your new land location picture under your name Sodapop. I would have never dreamed the Cobra 200 would outsell everything else. HOw did it outsell the S-9? The S-9 has been worshipped on this site by techs and members alike; while, the Cobra 200 has received doubtful reviews from posters. It won out anyway. Doesn't figure. I can see the Antron 99 being a no. 1 seller. I suppose the price is what attracted buyers to the Cobra 200gtl. mikefromms |

The price, the looks, and the talk factor. It's just a great radio! Mikefromms - Thanks for the comment on the profile pic. I like it, it's different and kinda cool! *G* |

Cobra also had a reputation over here years ago as being "bullet proof". From what i have read from some owners, maybe they are resting on their laurels a bit nowadays. But as in anything pricing will attract a lot of potential buyers. I can remember when the 148 was as highly regarded as the Grant as far as performance and reliability went. One of the few things i can remember these days....lol. Cheers and Beers, Bob CEF 703, Eastern Australia. |

I like my Cobra 200. However, I do not like the narrow AM filter. (I'm used to the "full-bodied" audio of President Grants, old Cobra 148s, etc.) I use mine on 10 meters SSB, and it does a great job at THAT. However, as I've said, I don't like the AM receive quality. When I'm on 11 meters, I stick to my old Grant Classic for AM... Just my 2 cents. |

For am it is hard to beat a Uniden 68,78 or Galaxy 44, 88, 99, 93T, and 95T. The Magnums are top of the line too. Thanks for the comments. Anyone buying an export should consider if they are gong to talk mainly cb am radio or ssb. You could be disappointed with some on am. The narrow filters don't facilitate nasty loud am modulation like cber's like. For am I am sold on the Galaxy dx 95T. Mikefromms |

we just got done with a shoot out. 18 miles a way on a I2000. to a 2000gtl on a 99. am & lsb. tx was. 2970 95t 200gtl s9 on rx was 2970 95t s9 200gtl so there ya go.... on am rx that 200gtl we didn't like, either. not bad for a $200 radio. how ever, it came in 1st with least bleed over "rejection" any mods to make it not so narrow? |

I think he meant "most bleedover" least rejection. My 200...after a number of mods by ********** is a very nice rig. Loud radio on AM and the ssb with the mic gain at 12 and a dm-420 mic got very good audio reviews on 10m. In fact, several hams said they would love to have one in their mobile. Still...am getting rid of the 200 and putting a worked over 2510 back in with a little help behind it. As the sunspot cycle comes back...I'll be more focused on ssb and 10m that 11m and that made my decision for me. YMMV |
