Primetime314,
If it sounds good as a Base when you are using it then it will sound good as a Mobile when you are using it. 
No matter what what kind of Mobile Antenna you use if it is properly setup.

just a note:
remember tho not all base radio's were meant to go base and are not rugged to take the bumps...
that is a nice base radio and being as big as it is your giving theifs a bigger target..
just a thought.

Brad,
My bro-in-law takes his IC-718 mobile as well as using it as his home base. It actually fits quite neatly between the seats of his Nissan Patrol. Each to their own i'd say.
