I do agree with Lon, the 2510 is a great radio. But I like 2950's better. But as far as Uniden goes, the 2510 would be at the top of the list.

Pretty much all of their SSB rigs are top notch. As far as CBs go, I prefer the dual conversion MB8719 rigs with the 7.8MHz first IF. That would be the Cobra 148/2000, and the Uniden Grant (1005002), Grant XL, Grant LT, and later version of the Madison. The dual conversion SSB radios with the UPD858 PLL are just about as good, and you'll find lots of fans of that board too.

I agree with Lon about the HR2510 and similar radios Uniden made for President - they are alone at the top end of the 10 Meter radio pile.

Yes, I agree that the HR-2510/Lincoln were great radios. I've owned 2 HR-2510s and enjoyed both A+ radios. Although I've been very pleased with the Uniden sideband rigs with the UPd-858 PLL as well as the newer line Uniden sideband radios as well as the Uniden later model Madison, Grant XL/LT.

I am biased here but i've owned one for years, it has had an absolute flogging in several motor cars and even used as a base for a period, and never let me down. It doesn't get pampered by any stretch of the imagination, and just keeps on keeping on. In my opinion one the best "CB" radios ever built.....AX144.

I think that the President Lincoln/HR2510 chasis is the best Uniden ever made!!! It is easy to improve the AM audio and the SSB rocks. They used a lot of mil spec. componets and double sided through board construction. While I also liked my RCI2950 better I think it was more a matter of how much time I spent with that 2950. I spent at least 10 years with that radio before it was stolen. The President Lincoln was a replacement for the 2950. The larger display and buttons on the 2950 made it easier to use when driveing then the Lincoln. Both radio had great audio on SSB with the edge going to the RCI for AM. Stock power output was hands down Lincoln as the winner with it's MRF 455 final.

Unless I am mistaken the Galaxy and RCI lineup of boards are all losely based on the old Uniden Export Chasis. This is why all of RCI and Galaxy's radios have such good AM sound quality.

I also have to give credit were credit is due. THe old Cobra 148GTL and the Uniden Grant XL's rocked on AM and SSB. They were easy to add channels too and were rock solid on SSB!!!! Even with just a single 1969 final these radio's could easily be counted on for 30-35 watts of super clean on distorted power on SSB.Most of my friends had their's set up on AM to deadkey about 3 watts and swing to about 20.This gave good audio and long life.

Their are a lot of radio's out thier that were either built by Uniden or copied from Unidens Export chasis.

P.S. Is Cobra ever going to have Uniden make their boards for them again or are we doomed forever????

Looks like we're doomed. Now all Uniden type accepted radios are made in China, and it doesn't look as though Uniden will ever get back into sideband manufacture.

I have 4 HR-2510s and 6 Uniden Grants and I will never turn loose of any of them. I also have a Cobra 2000 that I have had since I bought it new in 77. All are great radios and as far as I am concerned the best radios you can own.

Hard for me to decide between my Uniden Grant, PC 76 XLW ( 3 weather bands, or my PC 66. They have always done a great job for me. Used the pc 76 xlw and grant on this trip to Dallas and Amarillo and Lubbock last week.

Wow! thanks for all the excellent comments on the HR 2510; I had no idea they are that popular, and I just traded for one and it's lookin' good. I had a Quad 6 I had purchased new then traded it for a Uniden Bear tracker 885 CB with a built in digital scanner. Too much trading but think I will be happy with these. Nice addition to the Ham Shack
