i am a 10k user with with great results. see a lot of guys at key downs using the Bad Boy antennas and Al Capones and they truly light it up. in fact have not seen any keydown winners with 10k's. do the bad boys and al capones only give good performance with a lot of big watts and no ears for all around use at key downs or is it there heavy weight that turns operaters off for every day use. any one else use these antennas

depends on the wattage, the 10k probably will handle between 7-12k before any trouble with it's smaller coil. in theory, the larger surface area will.......
my old 17" single coil won a couple 8 pill keydowns years ago, including vs a davemade 'rod of god'. so, the BIG coil for 'lowpower' keydowns is probably overkill. there are plenty of keydown winners in predators home state of texas, using their 'national' antenna, the predator, though black-al-capone & crowbuilt are texas antennas, too.
i LOVE my 22" dual coil predator, i have no need to remove tree limbs with anything bigger, i'm satisfied just breezing my predator through the branches

Me too! My Predator is tough! I try to avoid anything to low but if I have to drive under low over passes, signs , branches the whip just bends back and flops right back to position. As far as performance? I doubt I will EVER use another antenna for 11 meter. I have the 27 inch single coil shaft and the 17 inch single coil shaft. The 17 is what I get the best performance from mounted on my trunk. Its coil is just inches above the roof of the car. The 27 is for future installs and backup if somebody decides my Pred will look better on their ride.
