Hmmm, it's going to be interesting to see a review of this one: www.rangerusa.com/ss-158.html

Looks good: dual finals, blue LED's, 6-digit freq counter, SSB, 12 bands. If it had a large meter i.e. Galaxy/Magnum/Stryker, then I could really get excited.

'browning.....connex 4800dxl/cobra 148fgtldx/general grant(without amp)/galaxy 95t(without the amp)/rci6900f/etc etc etc....band coverage in 6 switched steps, but X 2-another switch in top right cluster gives it *12* bands in all.

they've been advertised for a while, not sure who's got 'em yet, but, been looking for 1, my guess is it'll be a fairly decent talker, RCV will probably be middle of the road-based on experiences with its relatives.

mike-guess it's because rci/galaxy needed to clone another radio to replace the 4800dxl, which they stopped, or will stop producing.

From the looks of this radio it looks like a galaxy 88 upgrade

From what I see different is

1. 6-Digit Frequency Counter (galaxy 88 5 Digit Frequency Counter)

2.Band selector A-L 12 bands (galaxy 88 A-H 8 bands)

3.CW Mode (galaxy 88 no CW)

4.Blue LED (galaxy 88 red led)

other then those 4 things is looks like a galaxy 88 upgrade IMO.

What I am trying to find out is how far one can slide with the transmit clarifier? Would one be able to tune the zeros....27.555 could u slide up or down to hit the zeros. 27.550 & 27.560 Hope this clears this up. And I did see the tune up options now listed.
