Outstanding! I'm partial to Turner microphones anyway, but the +3 has got to be my favorite. I like it because the compression really adds punch. |

I have in my small collection of radios and Microphones, A Turner Plus Three original model. That I run on any one of my Cobra like five pin radios, I get reports of out standing audio to the best sounding microphone for my voice tones. Carl CEF-357 |

I used to have a craig L131 mobile I used as a base with the turner plus 3 base mike on it. On sideband this setup sounded like a professional fm broadcast station!! everybody on the local net envied the quality sound. am was different. the plus three has a very bassy sound to it and didn't have the punch on am. imo the turner plus three is one of if not the best sounding base mike you can get to run on ssb. steve |

i use one almost exclusively on my 2000gtl, and i love it. dont need to have it cranked to get good audio. HINT: replace the few electrolytics in the mic for much improved audio. they are getting old now. matt |

If your microphone sounds different on AM and SSB, then you probably have an inactive or poorly adjusted limiter on AM, but an active and well adjusted limiter on SSB. None of my radios have deactivated limiters, and they've all been adjusted to 100% modulation maximum on an oscilloscope. The +3 has the same tone on SSB as it does on AM when listening to recordings I've made of my own voice as received on another radio. The +3 has a ceramic element, so it's response is actually a bit higher in tone than a dynamic or electret element, though not nearly as high cut as a D104 which is what I think most CBers still consider the standard CB microphone. Compare it to the Super Sidekick - which has a dynamic element - and you'll certainly hear a difference. I love my +3s. I have several. Even though I have lots of speech processors which would allow me to use any microphone and get very high average modulation levels, I still use the +3 a great deal because I just like how they sound, how they look, and their operation. Because the output control is right on top of the base, they are easy to adjust, and the neck is angled just right for me to close talk the microphone. My only criticism is that they aren't as pretty as the Super Sidekick. I wish they'd have made a special edition that was all chrome. I think if they had, they would have been even more popular. |

They are exceptional. I used one for years on a Realist Navaho 23 channel base. Later, I bought a Realistic TRC-448 mobile SSB. I bought a power supply, wired the +3 and had me a nice sounding little station. That +3 died after about 10 years. I now have another one that gets plenty of use. |

Can't really complain about a classic that has stood the test of time. If I ever come across one in decent shape, I'd snag it. |

From the reports I have gotten from the mid 70's to date using the Turner+3, it was and still is the best mic for reproducing my voice on AM/SSB by a considerable margin. In my opinion no-one has made a better mic since the +3 came out. |
