Is this radio discontinued? Will Copper be carrying this radio in the future. Just curious had planned on purchasing this radio for myself for a christmas present. The NEW Radio I can not find how to Tweak and Tuned or mod. this radio. I had planned on doing the tweak and tuning myself. If not I will have to find it on the internet somewhere.

Doughboyx, I hate to say it and I did'nt believe it at first. I first heard it from a respectful Copper member. If you look up the Connex 4800 dxl/e in the online Copper catalog it says "no longer availiable"
Not sure but I doubt Copper has any stashed away. Can probably still find them in the shops and online but I bet the price will be higher. A couple years ago I found one brand new at a local cb shop for 500 dollars!
I guess that Ranger is replacing it with the new Superstar.
I for one really love the radio and stand by its performance. Great looks and just basic simple to use with good power and modulation. The reciever is so sensitive with very little white noise. The SSB filtering is tops! A dead silent SSB reciever. One way I found out. Many times I have heard an operator many miles away in ssb mode key the mic and tune to get on freq without talking. Just that little tiny bit of transmitted frequency shift was detected and the operator was amazed that I was mobile!
One radio I will never part with and most likely use in the mobile until I wear it out. Mine does 38 watts PEP and normally run the mic gain at 1 o clock with an Astatic 636. 99% of the time I get 5/9 flowers DX! AM does really good also but my 4800 has crystal clean AM audio. Not the norm for the average AM operator that prefers to have clipped and snipped audio. If you love SSB like I do and you can find one brand new then jump on it fast!

Thanks, Hotwire

It seems that you are the only one that know anything about this info. Was hoping that one of the Tech's here could tell me if it is true or false info. I like the Ranger SS-158EDX but it look like it will not go below channel 27.965 (1). So will be looking at something else.

Doughboyx,

Sorry but none of the Copper Forum Techs or Moderators are employed by Copper Electronics, so we do not have the information on what is or is not in stock or what has been discontinued unless we call or e-mail them which you can do also.

You can contact Customer Service at: 1-800-626-6343 and ask for Suzanne in Customer Service or e-mail her at: Suzanne@iglou.com or Submit a post to the Customer Service area here in the Copper Forum.

Or when I go to the LINK below it and it say's:

No Longer Available

CONNEX 4800 DXL/E WITH ECHO

As for Tune Up information I have the Connex 4800 information listed in the Modification List to the left of the forum here.

Hope this help's,

Lon
