RCI 2990, Yes I use the ANTTRON 305, and I am very pleased with the performance.

"Regional Antenna NO!"

Antron started back in 1961 as Kem-tron Industries, making the Interceptor 100, Thunderbolt 305, RoadRunner 150, and many other products, in the 80's a partnership was formed and changed name to ANTRON making the original A-99 with tuning rings, plus over a 150 other products from Amps, Antennas, Mobile & Base for CB & Ham operators.

In 1991 the partnership was dissolved and ANTTRON with 2-T's was reborn.

In 1992 the Antron name with a single "T" was turned over to DuPont.

Over the years COPPER has sold many of their products.
**************************************************

ANTTRON has been in business at the same location and family owned thru 3 generations.

As a ANTRON / ANTTRON Dealer for over 16 Years, I am sad to say as of FRIDAY AUGUST 2, 2002 ANTTRON ANTENNAS has closed it's doors.

I recently installed a 305 on my 20 milliwatt beacon AOH. My 'radio check' came from a friend 30 miles from the site. He got 2 more S units with the 305 over the old A99.

Also, the 305 is built considerably stronger than the A99. The 305's fiberglass looks like it was sprayed from a chop gun onto a mold. Not only is it stiffer than the A99, it is also larger diameter and does not sway in the wind as much as the A99 did. In fact, in winds under 20 MPH, it doesn't sway at all!

After losing 2 A99's to wind on the mountain, I am anxious to see how long the 305 will last. If there will be no more 305's built, I hope this one lasts a long time.

tech808, is the Anttron 305 basically an A99 with a different tuning device (sleeve) on the outside of the antenna? I figure that it may be very similar on the inside, right?

Marconi, As far as I understand the 305 was completely redesigned and all of them were hand wound by Frank III. I believe they were a heavier winding and several improvements over the Original ANTRON A-99 that they made.

ATTENTION FORUM MEMBERS!
**************************************************

I want to clear up a major point here for the FORUM Members.

The SOLARCON A-99 and the I-MAX 99 & I-MAX 2000 are in no way connected to the ANTTRON ANTENNA COMPANY CLOSING, as they are made by different companies.

ALL of These Antennas are Very Good Antennas and are still being sold by COPPER.
**************************************************
The ANTTRON closeing only affects those BASE & MOBILE Antennas & Products that carried the name ANTTRON!

LOL!!!!! Joe Gunn and their "audio gain" claims!!!!! I asked the sale rep at Jo gunn about that claim and they claim the audio gain will actually improve a radios modulation but 50% making your radio louder by boosting the modulation off of the antenna elements!!! HA!

Hoosier You got a ANSWER out of them? For years ive tried to get them to show me how to measure it and all i got was a runaround or a catalog. Jogunn antennas are NOT on my list of things to buy what I would like to see is a STANDARD requirement on all antenna to be measured by that would have to be corectly done. No " ground inhansment " and all that junk. Make all measurements at 1 wave above ground and print the E H planes with the add..... It woulnt happen but its a nice thought.

The Jogunn antennas are good products, very well built and very resilient in weather. A bit pricey, though, and I agree that the marketing is bogus.

What irks me is some poor guy cought up 500 bucks thinking he is buying a better antenna only to find the 200 dollar one he had works just as well.
Jogunn is a good reason to have a industry standard for all gain measuments done under a strick standard that all would use...... not done in the sales dept.

ANTTRON,

Yes ANTTRON is back OPEN again after the original Owners Frank and Martha Kukura III and Frank Jr Closed it down last year Due to Frank III Health.

They have sold the company, Web Site and Phone Numbers to the new Owners who were also Past Anttron Dealers.

The New owners are located in Oklahoma City.

The new Owners were also ANTTRON DEALER's for the Old ANTTRON Company.

The good news is after talking with the New Owner's is that the ANTTRON 305 is only about 30 days from being manufactured again.

The winter catalog that is shown carries many of the original Ham Antennas.

This is GOOD news to be so Close to having the 305's out again.

They will still be Hand Wound the EXACT same way as Frank Jr was making them before they closed.

Will let you Know as soon as I get the FIRST Shipment of them as I will have one on it's way to Tech833.

For the HISTORY of Antron Please go to the LINK Below:
http://cbworldinformer.com/200107/anttron_story.htm

There are still Kem-Tron Amps out there on ebay from time to time.

WIll keep you all posted when the 305's are shipped.
