--Midwess: I have one, and it puts out 30 watts almost right on the dot. Maybe 28-32 watts...just depends on frequency. About the only thing I don't like about it is that it is noisier than any other radio I own, meaning that it needs more "ANL/NB" cleaning up of the noise.

--It seems that every time I use the Mini Magnum 30 as a base or a mobile, I always end up switching BACK to my Stryker SR440-HP or RCI 2950DX. MUCH better at filtering noise. Of course the radio IS only $85, so, of course, it is not going to be feature-laden, but during a quiet night, it works great...plus, it's hard to beat 10 bands of channels in a radio!

--Oops, I forgot to say that the dead key of mine is 3 to 3½ watts, and I do get reports of good loud and clear audio.

mine also does about 25 to 30 watts. not bad for a small radio you might want for a back up. i run an executive sedan service and spend many hours in a lincoln town car and this radio fit the bill to a "T" small enough that it does not stick out puts out fine barefoot would be nice if you could use a power mic but out put is better wattage wise with the stock mic, could use a nb/anl. i am right now suffering from a lot of fuel pump noise but will soon mod that out but the radio is stout and a great perfomer for the price. i use it with a wilson 1000 trunk mount and talk to my local guys 30 to 45 miles away barefoot giving them 2 to 3 s units.when i pick up clients i pop off the antenna and puyt it in the trunk cap off the mount and nobody knows it's there, radio is mounted with velcro to bottom of dash and its hard to see.

How do you switch between the bands on the mini mag? Usually radios like these have a knob with about six positions labeled A to F for switching between bands. Also the two digit display is a litle confusing.

i got mine today and cant get anything but E band no matter what i do, i read above link, and still have nothing but E band. it has about a 6 watt deadkey on eico dummy load. it is either verrrry quiet or does not receive well. not sure about transmit, because people that hear me on 2950 do not hear me on mini mag on same antenna. jeesh i hate getting stuff on the weekend. aj

well after above post , i tried turning power off and letting it set for awhile then, turning on power supply with radio off. then pushing call button repeatedly until it changed. i have not trie all bands, but it works on D& F. i talked to 2 regulars and both said the carrier was much higher than the audio. but when i used the amp, the signal and audio were in relation to each other. i heard 4 people altogether, and WAS IMPRESSED with the quality of received audio! sounded like being in the same room talking person to person. although radio is completely devoid of ANY noise in standby, with squelch off, and i miss people that i hear on 2950 on same antenna (not at same time)i wonder if squelch is working correctly. i like the way the band letter and channel # are shown. its easy to use and will fit my needs fine, it is to be used stricly as a mobile.if the audio and squelch (problems) are problems and can be resolved, i would like to get another one. Lon as far as doing ANYTHING TO the radio, i know better and wont fiddle with it. AJ
