Been hearing a lot of talk on the airwaves about this new 300-400 watt Connex 4300. One heck of a powerful radio. Price is in the 700 dollar range so I hear. No SSB so it is definatley for the truck driving man. Gotta wonder though, how big is big enough? Won't be as simple as just popping it in replacing that Cobra 29.
So anyway how about guys? Have you heard about it too?
Seems like the export radio companys are now in a power war!

Never heard of it. Seems to be wayyyy to expensive for an illegal CB and it just has AM mode.

OK, Talk to the tech at one of the local cb shops in my area. As a promotion he was givin access to 8 "Connex 4300-300" models. Only a very limited number of the radios are available until the month of march when they will be ready for the masses. They do have 4 X SD1446 transistors. The tech claims to me after his tuneup the radio he was talking on dead keys 125 watts and swings 450-500 watts. Personally not totally convinced of those numbers but I will say they radio sounded very good, loud and clear and was giving me a strong signal at 40 miles away. Performance over a long QSO was solid and no heat issues discovered so far. List price is 800 bucks! Promotional price right now after tune is 600 bucks. So bottom dollar on these rigs I guess will be in the high 500's low 600's range. Would not be suprised at 800 bucks at some shops. A 4 pill SSB model will be in the works also. No time real soon I bet. Lets see how these new awesome AM/FM models do first. Not quite ready to put my order in just yet!

I too have heard of these and I am glad that someone has finally decided to -put up or shut up-. with the talk of all these other guys building these radios with these big power claims it is nice to see somebody finally step up to the plate. too bad it had to be Connex though.
