Ok I have a question for all the 10 k folks out there, I have a Small 4 X 4 Truck and I like too put a Predator 10K on top of the cab but where do I get the magnet mounts and will I have too have the mount with the 3 five inch magnet? Does Predator make them or just use the Valors from Coppers?

The 3 magnet setup from Copper will work fine, but if it were me I would get a four magnet mount, but I usually overdue everything anyway.

i run a tri mag on the roof of my suburban with a 17" single coil shaft 10K with great results. was currious about how strong the mag would be and ran it up to a speed of 105 mph and it stayed strong. i also live in the boonies with a lot of low hangging limbs and have waked a couple of branches and it still hangs on. as far as performance been great have talked up to 80 miles to a base and 45 to 50 miles mobile to mobile with a RCI 2950Dx straight out the radio no amp. only thing i don't like is when it rains my swr's get crazy. also with DX i have talked to south america, california and jamaica and other Dx contacts with only 200 watts on SSB. you will be happy with the 10K and a tri mag.

Well thanks for all the input and I guess I cant go wrong with the 10 K and the valor mag mount. I can relate to the boonies, we use too live way out in the sticks where the nearest paved road was 2 miles in either direction. (lol) As for hanging on strong at 105 mph, (WOW) I dont think my little 4 cylinder could reach that speed unless in was down a big hill.(lol) Anyways thanks for the help, 73's Hilljack_357

i think() i have a pic up in the 'members pics' thread of my 22" shaft double coil predator 10k on a triple mag mount. i prefer what i have to the valor & proam versions. mfj has one like what i have, just without the risers. i removed the mount from the 'triangle' & replaced it with a predator lug style mount. i have also done the same to an mfj mount that i use with a 6 meter hamstick. i like the better ground you get with the lug style vs the so239. doubt my truck will do 105, either, & i doubt the predator will stay on at that speed. have had it blow off at just over 80mph, at 50 mph in a raging downpour with 60mph crosswind & also had it blow over while PARKED on the beach last january in heavy snow & 70+ mph winds.

Hilljack, Look for the best qaulity trimount. Coppers should work well. They make them with a T bracket holding the magnets together and the better made ones use a triangle cut piece of metal holding the magnets. Also set the magnets on the vehicle with 2 magnets in the front. You will get better stability that way.
Personally I have never been a mag mount person. Really don't care for them. I prefer to permanatley mount my antenna.
I use the Wilson roof mount for mine. I tried the Predator mount with lug connections and although it worked well it just was not as sturdy as the wilson mount. With how I have everything setup the antenna just had to much wobble to it. It is not a bad thing though for the antenna to give a little. Just a slight bit of wobble reduces the strain on the mount.

I have a 22 inch shaft single coil on my Nissan truck. Hold it down with tri mag no problem. Started with a shorter shaft but the longer one has much better RX and TX. You will love the 10K

On my twin coil 10k I use a 4 pad magmount bought off Ebay and it works just fine. It has never looked like moving and is a devil to remove when you want to take it off. Just watch out for those low tree's

I use a Tri magnet mount to hold my 27" Predator 10K to my Honda. Use a Tri Magnet mount and you should be ok.
