I am thinking of getting a new base radio . How does the receive on the 696f compare to the old 148/2000gtl ? Also , how do they compare on SSB ? |

if i had a good working one, i wouldn't change a 148(phillipines or older)/2000gtl/grant xl/lt/ etc for a TR696f base. the ones i've seen are pretty decent radios, & i'm sure all of us have heard 808's on DX once or twice(!). if it was a brand new 696 vs locating a used 2000gtl to have 'done up', that makes the 696 look better. |

Well...I just received my new TR 696F-SSB base from Copper yesterday. Preliminary testing has showed me the receive seems to be really decent. Adjacent channel rejection is pretty good too. I'm using my D-104 Black Night microphone. The gain on the microphone is up to about 1/3 and microphone gain on the radio is set to about 7. Output is set to 3.5 watts swing to 15. On transmit, the reports I'm getting is that it is loud and clear audio. I think this is a keeper...Thanks Copper! It's Only a Hobby! N6ELO RC Man 919 CEF #874

Does the 696F base have a fine and coarse clarifier or just one? How is the 696F as far as drifting?? Tommy~852~CEF 750 Do They Make Anything Besides "GALAXY"?

852, No it has a single clarifier. Never had a problem with drifting. Shirley 808xyl CEF#164 CVC#003
