Grumpy,
I've had mine for over 12 months now and it is a top shelf cb base in my opinion. I get good reports back and thats using the stock handheld mic. Mine puts out between 10 and 20 watts, goes over 10 on that measurement and just shy of 20 when i switch the meter to the 100w side, so i'm guessing about 12 to 15w. Only two gripes i have are it blew the lights in the meters but that won't affect usage and the speaker. But any old muso will tell you, fill the enclosure with speaker wadding and the difference is chalk and cheese. And they are a nice looking rig to boot. I have the one with the red led clock which was re-badged over here as a Pearce Simpson Super bengal Mk 3. Bottom line is i reckon it's a great radio for a cb base.

I realize this is an old question, but I wanted to put in a thought. I put my mits in a 1993 model once and made a couple of changes. Bigger driver, final, clipped the compressor and replaced it with a speach processor. Blew smoke! Madisons are a fine choice as are the president line. |
