I just bought my S9 and put it in my Dodge ram.
SO far I love it. I have it on a Wilson5000 and a TS667.
I haven't used the 667 much on it but most people local hear me good enuff bare foot I don't need it. Also the whole Idea that I may be driveing the 667 too hard.
May have to have my local shop remove the driver or see if I can trade for a 500 some where.
I am picking up some kind of noise with the power down and TOP GUN on. Seems to be more in the mike as it changes if I move the key while i'm talking "comes and goes".
Other than that I love it, it has replaced a Ranger 6900f25 and have had a couple locals say i'm loud.

Spunbearing,

WELCOME TO THE COPPER FORUM!

The S-3/S-6/S-9, Omega Force S-45 radios were designed to work with amplifiers WITOUT a Pre-Driver which the 667 has.

A note form Sam Lewis:

USE WITH AN AMPLIFIER

This radio was designed to work with a 4 pill Amplifier like the Texas Star 500 or Similar Amplifier that uses 4 - 2SC2879's.

Also if you use the Magnum S-3, S-6, S-9 or Magnum Omega Force S-45 with an Amplifier that uses an Exciter/Driver you MUST have the radio adjusted for a Dead Key of 4 watts and NO More than 12 watts PEP.

It is Highly Suggested that you have a professional do this.

Hope this help's,
Lon

Yea, I got a well reputable shop here. Actually the one that I bought the S9 from. Sorry didn't buy from copper.
I can either have the radio set up which rather not, have the driver removed from the amp, or buy or trade the 667 for a 500.
I would rather just trade the 667 to a local for a 500. I just hope it will be as much power as the 667.
I read all about the amp deal after I bought the S9. I'm sure there would be no problem getting someone to trade. I do know that used amps can be risky business, some people will sell junk around here.
S9 still doing good, locals say it's talking well and sounds way better than my old 6900f25.

Anyways, 349 Eastern Tennessee here. The locals here talk on AM 26.985, 27.115, and 27.205. My home channel is 26.985.
Have the S9 in my dodge ram and a RCI-2995dx in the house

Spunbearing, The DX500 has the same power output as the DX667.
Actually the DX500 will work and sound much cleaner.
You gonna be impressed!

I got a problem with my s-9.

It was there when I got it but hoped it was something simple.
When I first turn it on it has a slight squel to it. It comes out both the talkback and out in the air. After a little while it goes away, kinda like after it warms up?
Wandering if I should return it to the shop I got it from or is it something simple.
I did put a new Astatic 636 mic on it, ran the power strait to the battery. I'm lost and it buggs me since it is new.............

I would have to call them, my e-mail service will not let me send to his e-mail.

First I will return it to the shop I bought it from and see what they say.
