my galaxy 99 win i first turn it on it displays 26.050 on the freq counter, and i can't change the channel or band, it is like it is locked there (26.050) but after a few minutes it will begin to operate properly.
Any idea's?

Snowfire, I've had radios in the past do that. Particulary Cobras but even my Connex 4800 does it from time to time. I turn it on and its recieving and transmitting on something totally different than what it supposed to. Never been locked up though and I can change freqs but still mixed up freqs. Switching the Connex off then back on again returns it back to normal. With the Cobras I think it was something in the vol/on-off knob.
I suppose it has something to do with the age of the componets maybe, I don't know. When 2 plugged connections get old they tend to develope some sort of film or oxidation between the 2 connecting points. Could be from years of temperature changes maybe? Might want to have a look inside. Unplug the little plugs and then plug them back in making sure that they fit into the sockets fairly snug. This would insure that each connection was well connected to one another. I'm thinking this because it goes back to normal after a few minutes. Other than that it could be a cold solder joint but I doubt it. Have you tried removing the electricity from the radio when it messes up? That might kind of reset it instead of waiting for it to fix on its own.

Thank's Hotwire, But tried alll your suggestion's and still no luck. May have to take it to the radio shop to have it checked. As far as rx-tx goes is don't do that till it start's back to nornal operation. When it's on 26.050 after it's just been turned on it woint recive or talk, key the mic and it will key up but that is all, no audio or power from the radio. Just now in the time it took me to rite thes (about 3-4 minutes) it just went back to working properly. I guess it get's up when it want's too.

Could be cold solder joint on one of the crystals. |

im guessing a thremally intermittant IC chip or transistor.
(most likely and IC chip, also check VCO module)
after the radio has warmed up for at least a 1/2 hour, and is working correctly; get a can of dust spray (for computers), turn it upside down and give it a quick spray.
you should see some cold liquid spray out after one or two short sprays.
keep the can upside down, and using the red tube supplied, aim the spray at each IC chip in the radio.
give each a quick spray to "freeze" it, and immediately check the operation of the radio.
chances are, you will find the individual chip that is the problem, and you can just replace it.
be very careful of static electricity.
always touch the tip of the soldering iron to the metal of the chassis just before soldering or unsoldering an IC chip.
use solder braid to remove all the old solder.
the next thing to try is to reheat each pin of each IC or transistor that is mounted to the chassis.
you can see from flexing the chassis how the mobile mounting brackets can cause a problem if they are overtightened or if the foam pads included with the bracket are not used.
check the solder joints on each crytal in the radio next.
if you still havent found your problem, im afraid its going to take some test equip. to find it, and its going to need to go to a shop for repair.
