Put near the engine - the last thing you want in the cab is the fumes from a charging battery - one spark and BANG.

PLay safe. mount ti wheer it will get plenty of ventilation and runn BIG wires to the amp.

a quality sealed battery such as the optima is a good choice for putting a 2nd battery right at the amp. put it in a marine-type box to prevent dropping the vicegrips onto the + & - terminals.

The Optimas are great spiral gel cell batterys and they do not leak or give off fumes. I would secure it in the cab out of the way of passengers inside a container of some sort.

that is under NORMAL conditions. Think abnormal (yes it may never happen but why take the chance)??

Play safe put the battery where the auto makers do. It is put there for reasons...

I would also put it in the cab if theres room...for me it would be unfeasable due to the fact that there are people that want to ride with and with a standard cab it is already quite cramped in there. But if you have a extended cab then I would mount it back there off to the side some where....The Optima brand batteries are a life saver when using anything that requires lots of power especially if you get the hybrid deep cycle and starting battery.
