hi, i have an rci 2990 base station, with the rf power at minimum, it gives great loud audio, but as i turn up the rf power/deadkey my modj drops accordingly and i have to turn up the mic gain to compensate. it still never gets as good crunchy audio as it does when the rfpower is at minimum, giving more swing. is there an explaination why the audio doesnt stay the same? thanks for any info. 209 |

Low deadkey with a big swing gives louder audio but you can only go so far with it before you run into other problems. You want loud audio but at the same time it shoud be clean and crisp. No distortion and most of all no background noise wasting power. What works for me the best in the AM mode is to have a fully modulated signal which is a deadkey that is one fourth of your PEP or as close to it as possible. A 1:4 carrier to PEP ratio is choice and really the most effective way to run power. The swing thing is all cb hype and hard on your gear. Of course this is all of my own personal opinions from lots of study. Most agree with me and few believe otherwise. 73 KEEP IT REAL! Kenny cef491(27.115lsb) 2sf491(27.555usb) Indiana
