Hi,
I'm getting ready to change my tubes in a couple of days. What is the proper proceedure for changing tubes in the KLV 1000. Obviously I don't want to run the risk of electrical shock. I have heard the amp has a trigger under the cover that disipates the electricity, but I'm not sure.
Someone used to have a guide on here in one of the posts, but I can't find it these days.

Milkman, thanks for the site, but that's not it. I have that...that just tells you how to "tune" your amp.
I'm looking for the proceedure to change the tubes. Someone at one time, maybe last year, had a proceedure on here, but I can't find it.
There was a sequence of events that needed to be done to not risk getting shocked.

linx, first unplug amp from wall socket for 24 hours, its suspose to bleed down its self?? after that remove top, carefully short top of tubes to case to check, then remove the 2 screws on top of distrubution board, slowly work the board off as you relieve the spring clips on tube tops, make sure you watch were choke wire is attached!! then easly wiggle each tube and pull out!! put new tubes back in same way with a slight wiggle to seat them!! then putting choke wire were it goes, wiggle the board back on top of tubes working the clips so all seats as suspose to.. making sure the choke wire is in place , put screws back in and make sure there gently tightenen, especially the screw with the wire under it!! snug it should be!! put top on plug into your wall socket and turn amp onto stand by to burn in the tubes for up to 24 hours?? then attatch radio and all else , tune up on low and try to take it easy for the next??? hours then retune werever and have fun?? this is how ive done my amps and ive had great sucess.. need more info??? hope this helps..

My advice is not to do it. You can get hurt bad messing around inside a tube amp if you do not know what you are doing. They are not forgiving if you make a mistake even though it may sound easy to do. I had a thumb-nail blown off doing this very thing you are wanting to do and I HAD WORKED ON THEM FOR YEARS!!!!!
