friend of mine has a 3 pill base box that has no fans on it,would mounting 1 fan on top be ok or would mounting 2 fans 1 on each end.1 blowing in and the other blowing out work for better cooling

On my amp there are two fans on top pulling air from inside the box out the top.
At the bottom of the box on the back side there are vent hole cut in the box.
The heat sink fins line up with these holes. So with the fans on top operating they are pulling air thru the vent holes, thru the fins of the heat sink and across the pills (transistors) which are mounted to the heat sink.
Like the cpu's in a computer the cooler you can keep those big power transistors the harder they can be driven or you can opt for not over-driving them and just get peak efficiency out of them.
I have actually toyed with the idea of adapting one of the CPU cooling systems to work on the pills.
It would not be difficult, maybe when I get in my new shop and I have time I will play with the idea somemore.
