Hi everyone, I bought a RF Limited BR-1 echo board to install in my Magnum 257. My first question is where would I tap into a switched 12 volt source in my radio? Secondly, the instructions say to mount it as far away from the RF amplifier as possible, I am assuming that the RF amplifier is in the rear right? Thanks in advance for the help.  |

You should be able to find switched 12v at the rear or the on/off switch or providing it does not draw too much current you could always hook up to the positive side of one of the panel illumination bulbs but be VERY careful when doing so as the tracks to these are tiny and very easily damaged , I will look for a schematic to see if I can find some more points on the board as for mounting the echo board try to mount it as close to the front as you can but try to stay away from the VCO circuitry as possible too as anything too near to that part of the board can cause slight drift in frequency , warble on SSB or in the worst case kill the TX/RX , hope this helps .

the echo is very hard to hook up the modulation hookups on due to the circuit board for the mic connector. I did this on a eagle sidewinder a few years ago.you have to cut the mic trace to hook it up.copper use to sell the video to do this that was made up by 307 that was here in about 2001.

Oh man, If its that hard I'll probably have to find someone to do it for me. I dont trust myself soldering tiny things. (too shakey) |
