i have a channel kit in my cobra 2000gtl,i purchased another kit cause it is a 5 crystal kit for backup.but i was reading the instructions and it said to open the VFO, remove r99 and r95 and replace with a 18k resister.is that going to make the frequency go farther above and below what it alread does?

The instructions had meant to open the VCO on the radio I presume , you would need to do a mod on the radio VCO to expand the range that the vco will cover as you would be stuggling to get 200channels without the vco quitting on you . It will not give you more frequency coverage than the board gives you but will wideband the vco to cover those frequencies without you losing TX\RX at the lowest and highest frequencies the 5 band board will give you .
