My daughter moved out leaving an empty room (I have three kids). She is a great person and it was her decision was to take another step into adulthood. So now I have a dedicated radio room for the first time in a lot of years and it’s somewhat strange. I’ve been loading armfuls of radios into the room and my wife bought five large bookcases for the boxes of books I have scattered all over (She seemed a little too gleeful…what’s next, a single bed for me?). All I need is a big screen HDTV and a bar refrigerator and I’m set for winter (except for the Italian convertible for my mid-life crisis). Bring on the 10-meter contest! |

That is cool, Same hppened here with my son moving out and it was very hard to move into his room as I missed him so. But, you will love it having your own room to setup as a shack. Just disapear ito that room ,shut the door and escape from the XYL, kids and lose yourself in the radio.

My eldest son talks about moving out but thats what it all is....talk. Hasn't even got any interest in finding a job let alone affording to move. My biggest fear is the bludgers will still be living at home when they turn 40. I've got next to no hope of a room of my own. Enjoy your space guys....i'm just jealous.

As soon as they move out.....as soon as the door closes behind them......load that empty room up with all your radios, books, mics, meters, desk, computers, etc. and occupy that space!! That way if they do find their way back to mom and pops....there is always the couch for them to nap on!! Lol!!

Hyperno - start charging rent and raise it every couple of months. Either he'll move out or you'll make enough money to build a radio room..
