Can anyone tell me can I mount an Imax on top of my 40ft TV tower. I have a TV antenna on top of it but it is not being used. I have Directv. If the top of the Imax is higher than the TV antenna it should be good. Is this correct. Any input is apperciated!

get the feedpoint of the imax higher then the highest point on the tv antenna, & remove the 300 ohm tv wire, you'll be fine then.

You say the TV antenna isn't in used, why not remove it altogether and use the tower for the radio antenna.
I say an antenna not in use should not be there in the 1st place.

should work pretty good..

Years back I had a single mast that had the family tv antenna at 25ft and at 30ft ona cross arm I had 2m vertical, 10m vertical, 6m vertical and the three guys isolated and tuned to work as dipoles on HF. worked like a charm.

Thank you all very much for the replies. Your input is much appreciated!
What's the best and safest way for me to either remove the TV antenna or mount the new antenna up there? The tower is pretty stable and I've climbed up the side of it to get on my roof before.I'm not sure exactly how tall the tower is but it is your average TV antenna Tower that you would see next to someone's house that lives in the country. I don't think it is taller than 40ft. However I do not feel it is safe to climb it to the top. Do I need to hire somebody? Or can I do it myself somehow with out having to spend alot of money.

Ask around the local cbers or hams. I'm sure someone would do it for a 6 pack or two (to be drunk AFTER finishing up the tower)..

6 pack or 2? You guys work cheap over there...lol. Nothing would get done here for that and you would be branded as a tightwad forever. At the very least a 24 pack is required or for best results a 30 can cube or two and all the help needed will arrive.
