Does anyone know who makes a good class AB1 high drive amp that puts out about 200 watts.Has to be able to take about 20 watts AM and 40 Watts SSB.I don't want a big splatter box just about 200 watts for the car.
Tnx Bob CEF451/VE1CZ

texas star dx500v...vary the AM dead key of the RADIO, NOT the amp to keep AM carrier low, & adjust mic gain to lower PEP both modes. the 158 should work just fine with it, cranked or backed down. CEF491 uses a 4800dxl (same as the 158) with a dx500 and has had a major 'presence' here on the east coast at times. even when he has been S9+ on AM 13, no bleed on 12 or 14.
magnaforce claims to be class 'B', but still a noisemaker on many channels once you put some drive to it. texas star is about the best built CB amp in AB1. unfortunately, the 500 is all they have that will handle dual final-type radios.
