I saw a 2995dx on the web that had a set of fans that were in a clear inclosure and had multi colored lights! Does anyone know where i can get these fans?

Radiodude,

I would only guess that someone took some plexiglass and built an enclosure to hold the Ranger Dual Fan Kit and added LED's to it.

You can order the Factory Fan Kit that is already wired for the 2995DX, 2985 & 2990 radios direct from Copper.

R10-10130 SRA-2990CF Fan Kit for 2990/2990DX
[R10-10130] $59.95

Cooling Fan - SRA-2990CF

Long periods of continuous operation can greatly increase the heat generated from the final transistors. The extra large heat sink on the back of the RCI-2990 Series (all models) & RCI-2995DX can dissipate a good portion of this heat. However, when the operation is continuous in the high power mode, this can put added wear and strain on the finals, potentially shortening their life expectancy. Now, with the addition of the SRA-2990CF Cooling Fan accessory, this problem and worry is eliminated. With two fans moving the air around and through the fins of the heat sink, fresh, cooler air is continually distributed over the finals. Longer life and a cooler operation is realized from the radio. All connectors, wiring, hardware and instructions are included.

Hope this help's,

Capt'n Radio is right.

Any decent computer shop will have a myriad of fans to choose from. All sizes, types and materials. With LEDs, electro-luminescient strip and god knows what else.

There is a HUGE computer hobby of modifying cases to make it look like something different. For some really amazing examples, just do a google search for "case mods" and you should be swimming in web pages dedicated to them.

Personally, I think it's overkill for a radio. Heck, I'm still undecided on blue displays. Go figure.

Frank
