I'm considering purchasing a new radio,I would like to hear some likes and dislikes of this radio from users, after a Copper Expand, Align, and Tune. How's the performance, what wattages are you seeing, what's the freq. coverage?? Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.. Tommy~852~CEF 750

How is the 2980WX as far as SSB drift? Do they stay on freq. fairly well? Tommy~852~CEF 750

All i can say on drift is my 2970DX does not drift after warm up. All radios will drift some more than others until you get it to operating temperature. Ranger have a fairly good reputation and so far mine is up there with the best. CEFFFCEF Bob CEF703/CVC26 NOT allowed to hold a passport....

I brought a 2980WX about 2 months ago, I like the radio very much. The AM on this radio is excellent, better than my Cobra 2000GTL which has a very good receive, the SSB on strong stations is not quite as good as my Cobra 2000GTL but it pull es in the week stations very well. The freq counter is right on when the radio is first turned on but when warm is it reads 27.1848 when it transmitting 0n 27.1850 which make no difference at all. I also have an ICOM radio but like to the receive better on my 2980wx because of having both the channel number and the readout on the radio. It has worked well on 10 meters with the 25 watts on SSB.....walterb |
