I purchased this radio fairly cheap. Probably should have known better. But I'm getting back into the cb thing and it's a blast. Just got my penetrator 500 on my 60 ft tower. Back to the problem. I believe this radio has the swing mod, variable rf power mod and echo added. When keying up it has slight hum that is transmitted with the carrier and it will change increase and decrease somewhat when the rf power pot is adjusted. It also has very bassy hollow modulation. Does this sound like power supply filter problem ? I heard this radio on my cobra 142 when talking to buddy and it worked great. Receive works great no hum there. Thanks in advance to all. |

well first off the swing mod id get rid off thats probaly part/most of the problmem.also try different mics.if using a power mic dont turn it up very high.also try either a stock mic or a rk-56 or 636l.cause these swing mods normally involve altering or elimating the audio limiter.which when done causes any radio to overmodulate.if it was me id find a really good tech and have them go completely thru it dale/a.k.a.hotrod cef426 cvc#64

Thanks Dale. I believe I've got it going to a good tech here in a couple weeks. Hopefully it's not to serious. |
